In the Wizard of Oz, Dorothy clicked her ruby slippers and found her way home. Dorothy & her magic shoes used to be a work of fiction, but today is now the work of inventor Sayo Isaac Daniel, a Miami inventor of shoes that will actually let you find your way home.

Isaac Daniel has combined a utility that everyone needs (shoes) and a function that everyone wants (to know where you are at all times.) Daniel’s shoes are embedded with a GPS technology which allows anyone who wears the signal to press a button which sends out a sattelite signal where anyone where these shoes can be located at anytime.

The company, headquarter in Miami, Florida, provides Location Based Services (LBS) where parents can call up and locate their children anywhere. The footwear line, called Compass shoes provides 100% accuracy due to the sattelite based location system. The system was created by Quantum Sattelite Technology, (QST) through Fele Corporation, a holding company. The technology system implemented is a Covert Alaram Locator apparatus.
On a daily basis, children are reported missing, and statistically, they are abducted or taken by a family member, relative or nearby neighbor. According to MSNBC, aprox. 700,000 children were reported missing in the year 2005. Today, with technology & innovation, not only missing children, but other missing-person emergencies will definitely be curbed due to this sattelite driven invention.

These shoes are currently priced up to $350 dollars. The technology is the same used in cars, boats and even airplanes. Now, everyone This is an unbelievable invention. Yes, it’s high in price at the moment, which compared to the current intrinsic & perceived value of the Starbury Shoe at $15, these shoes should take off. The goal is to educate the public the value of these shoes as well as provide quality LBS & customer service. This is what will make the Isaac Daniel brand extremely unique, not the GPS, but the connection between customer & the company providing the LBS services. Parents of kids will want to know exact locations, maybe information about how long their child has been in a particular area, or what there path has been. The value to customers of the Isaac Daniel shoe will come from the in depth & accurate information.
They are said to be at high end stores that will carrying these types of shoes, such as Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales. You can also purchase the shoes online through IsaacDaniel.com.

I don’t think Dorothy’s ruby slippers have nothing on the Compass Shoes.

Will Ferrell has jumped on the social video, web.20 bandwagon with Funny or Die. And it’s only launched in the past few days and the site is taking off like a rocket. I know this as I noted the site a few days ago and today, the videos are extremely slow & they’ve had a few crashes already.
Funny or Die is a collaboration between Hollywood comedians & Silicon Valley tech geeks. The site was created by Gary Sanchez Productions which is Will Ferrells and Adam McKay’s production company.

On this video-funnies site, users are able to vote on the videos to be either Funny or Die. Videos that are voted to die get sent to the crypt but can also be resurrected. The rating system has types of ratings where your video can go the heaven Gods of immortality or to the fire death of Comedian Hell. Your videos can be ranked: 1.) Immortal, 2.) Walking Tall, 3.) Kinda Cute, 4.) Uh-Oh, or 5. The Crypt.
You can see Will Ferrell in The Landlord Video here.

The Internet is the age where is has strengthed the concepts of teamwork, collaboration, sharing, and community. Grouptivity, a California based start-up aims to take online collaboration to the next level.

Although Grouptivity aims to dethrown the father of online communication (email) regular email as an ineffective form of communication, the service heavily relies on it for its service. The service uses your existing email to leverage their own platform allowing one for features such as:

Sharing & communicating content in private forums

Creating Surveys, voting ballots, & feedback forms

Allowing you to communicate through one unified email (Better watch what you write in this)

Allows for you to recall past messages (Really better watch what you write!)

The goal of Grouptivity is to make communication through multiple means easier & faster. This service is useful in private settings to connect with your peers in a useful way. I think the service will be more useful if it was widgetized and can use it on your personal CMS, your blog or a website. This would make Grouptivity stand out in the social networking space.

YoName, a California based company, started in 2007, is an alternative socialnetwork name search which allows you to be the stalker you wanted to be. This online “name-search” tool allows you to look up people by a persons user name, their email address or even their first or last name.

I tested out this service, and overall it will be a tough sell. First, I noted that the search has no variation on the words if you enter in a name. And given the fact that many users use “MySpace”, those variations will primarily come from MySpace. I tried my first name, (Darrin) for the search & those variations of a single name, result in pulling not only just your home page of your MySpace profile, but also the page with where all your friends are as well as the video section of your MySpace page ( even if you don’t have any video). The problem is that, all 3 of those variations for this type of service are not needed.

I’m pretty sure that this is still in Beta stage or maybe even in Alpha as the search is limited to only MySpace, Xanga, Digg, Match, Friendster, and Facebook. I’m pretty sure that more will be added so that more search indexing will be more useful, however, the main problem with all this is that many people use different user names for different accounts. Also, the beginning MySpacers never used their real personal name on their pages, let alone their first or last. The company states the following:

OK. Let’s say you’re at the club and you’re flirting with this total stud (and he is way out of your league, by the way), and, boom, you score digits. The problem is, genius, that the next day they’re still in the pocket when you toss your jeans in the wash. You remember his name, but he’s not in the book. I mean, who even uses the book anymore except to order pizza? Exactly. So now what do you do? yoName!

Yeah, this is only about the company & provides you an understanding of how to use it, however, the fact is that I think the majority of people don’t use their MySpace names when they go to the club, or give out BetsyLuv38275.

Overall, the first community search that yoNmae should have added was LinkedIn. This would have been a better use of their search indexing feature. This community, which is more professional in nature, more users will want to use their first & last names & a true contact email. Users of this community have been known to use this service in networking for jobs & gain direct contacts by name.

Mainly, this service will have a hard time taking off, unless they add additional features such as indexing from different communities, or adding a function to look up phone numbers, or home addresses. Then, and truly then can yoName can let you become the private detective or stalker in some cases, that you want to be.

I think to be an effective search engine, there are a few things that you may want or need to have:

Allows or accepts any & all history of information

Allows you to filter on the content you are looking for

Relavancy: Returns what you are specifically looking for

Allows you to narrow down, ranking & categorize your findings

Saves you time, allowing you to find what you want & need effectively

Allow you to search on specific types of online media: ie pictures, words, audio, or video

Not many people can walk into a car dealer and say, “I want that in red”, and then walk out with their new car…paid for in cash. But if you could do this & only take a 1 week hit in your weekly paycheck, you would definitely feel like you made it.

Not many people can walk into a car dealer and say, “I want that in red”, and then walk out with their new car…paid for in cash. But if you could do this & only take a 1 week hit in your weekly paycheck, you would definitely feel like you made it.

In 2006, Google had generated approximately $11.2 billion in revenues. Just hours ago, Google acquired DoubleClick for $3.1 billion, an amount that was equivalent 4th quarter profits in 2006. Google is definitely making moves to be the face of advertising within the onlineTycoons Row › Create New Post — WordPress industry.

So what does a $3.1 Google Acquisition get:

Improved Ad view experience - Ads will become more relevant to users

Publishers will gain more access to additional ad inventory

Advertising optimization - Search & Display ads (display will become a “new” trend) can be analyzed with new metrics

According to co-founder & president of Google Technology, Sergey Brin, “It has been our vision to make Internet advertising better - less intrusive, more effective, and more useful. Together with DoubleClick, Google will make the Internet more efficient for end users, advertisers, and publishers,” stated in the Double click press release.

DoubleClick is an expert in ad serving, affiliate marketing, rich media & video. The company is based in New York, employing over 1200 people. The company went private on a $1.1 billion deal by Hellman & Friedman and JMI Equity in 2005.

Just a few weeks ago, a new system was developed by DoubleClick, which was an ad-exchange that was to be similar to the Nasdaq. So in essence, publishers & advertisers will join together on one platform and advertisements can be auctioned off. For Google, this opens up their network of ad-auctions or monoplizes it. Google has its own auction-type ad-exchange, however, its available to only those in the google network. Now, with DoubleClick, not only will Google have access to an exchange of online ads, but also, an exchange of auctioning ads offline.

Although this news didn’t go that well in the market as GigaOm reported that “stock market - shares are trading down a buck-and-change a share,” I think that this will change tomorrow. An all cash-deal, and 2 strong companies combining will only increase a the strength of the stock.
