When Kyle & Jill MacRae began their dot-com start-up in July 2005, they had no idea of how to assess the future, given the type of business they were in. Kyle MacRae left his freelance journalism job as well as a lucrative technical publishing career to work a schedule that was 25 hours and 8 days a week, and relying on a 6-month proof-to-concept phase of an online start-up to be called Scoopt.
Scoopt lets you be become an online paparazzi, where you can upload & send your photos to the press and get paid for them. Scoopt brings forth a 3-step process to 1.) Snap, 2.) Send and 3.) Sell your hot photos. Selling your photos through scoopt allows you to receive a 40% royalty. Best thing is that you can upload your photos & send your photos to scoopt for free. Scoopted in-house staff can sell these photos over & over non-exclusively to different publications.
You can send Scoopt photos online, and even through your mobile phone. The company has a dial in number where all you have to do is Snap & Send. So, while your waiting in line in the hot club watching the stars get in first, might as well snap a few pictures & get the scoop before anyone else does!
Scoopt has been acquired by Getty Images. Getty supplies images 24/7 around the world to media companies such as newspapers, magazines and broadcasters. This acquisition is a beneficial one for Scoopt as now more Scoopters will be able to get paid faster, they have more potential of getting their photos distributed for buyers worldwide and Scoopt becomes a stronger & larger presence in the paparazzi arena.
