It was a matter of time until one influential individual stepped up to the plate and recognized that the producers of Internet Video will be like having a Hollywood Studio at your own home. Michael Eisner, former CEO of Walt Disney, has a vision and has acted on it. Vuguru is a new-media, web-based studio which will focus on creating and producing quality shows for the web. Think of it as having high-quality SOAPS online.
Vuguru’s first production will be a 80 Episode, serialized mystery show called Prom Queen. Prom Queen is aimed a young target market, who are engaged in online & new media. The concept is short, story board format, and distributed through mass web applications, such as Veoh, Itunes, and more. Already, Eisner has been able to amass sponsorships to leverage a potentially successful new media show. Some sponsors include: FIJI Water, POM Wonderful (Pomegranate Juice and POM Tea) and Teleflora.com, providing same day local florist delivery. This new show will also be featured on ElleGirl - a teen based internet property involved with fashion & beatuy. This is a perfect distribution placement for Prom Queen.
Prom Queen will be co-produced by a company called Big Fantastic. Beverly Hills based, United Talent Agency (UTA) helped broker the deal. UTA has been specializing in representing deals & artists worldwide in the media marektplace. The plan is to also distribute the media on wirless & handhelds. This is definitely a new age of marketing & targeting independent film.
