Thirty-Day (Carolynn) Duncann becomes the Morgan Spurlock of Business.
What if you lost your job, had only $100, a business idea & 30 days to make it successful? Well Carolynn Duncann’s company, The Hundred Dollar Business, has cracked the code of taking $100 and making a successful business out of it, and she’s already on the road to completing the 2nd business.
The Hundred Dollar business is a 30-day themed project whereas every 30 days, Carolyn & her team sets out with only $100 in hand to set up, develop, and make successful an actual business. This is instant immersion of an entrepreneurial education. As you know, 3 out of 5 businesses fail within the first 3 years of starting up. With this model, the Hundred Dollar business has the potential to beat the odds, learn from mistakes and failures & also create a network to succeed.
Currently the business has done two projects:
- The Entrepreneurs Story: Duncann has challenged the company to develop a published book which will feature 100 entrepreneurs sold to 100 customers in 30 days. Deadline for this project is March 13 & began Feb. 12th.
- Treats & Treasures: The $100 Business had 30 days to set up & run a holiday gift kiosk at a local mall. This was the first project whereas, the idea basically used Web2.0 framework: Sharing, collaboration and community and integrated those concepts into the live business. Duncann collaborated with 6 vendors, and formed a mini-mall community. Treats & Treasure was able to sell holiday books, princess gifts, cakes and other vendor products. Not only was this revenue sharing, but gaining advice from the community & taking on a collaborative effort.
The Hundred Dollar Business is a great concept and I definitely support it. It will give an inside look into what it takes for start-ups to build, and ramp up their company. What will make Hundred Dollar Business successful is to continue more 30-Day business projects that are innovative & fun to do. I think it would be very interesting as people will get an inside look at live version of the ‘”Art of the Start.”
