Jyte: You Claim “There Can Be Only One”?

Jyte“There Can Be Only One” was the slogan already taken by the movie Highlander, but it would suit well for Portland based Jyte - a site that utilizes Open ID for users to create communities through claims that can be voted on, ranked & credibility can have a value to it. This service will be a smash to those who want to increase credibility based on their current and future statements. Right now, JetBlue is going to need it (ie: CEO instills new customer wait policy).
The concept is based on OpenID, whereas you have one username and password which acts like a unique social security card number. With OpenID, instead of having to write down & remember multiple usernames and multiple passwords, all you would need to have is your primary log-in & pass word which will give you access to your life on the web.

Jyte offers a service which utilizes OpenID technology, where you can make a claim & people can rank it (thumbs up or down). Jyte can allow a community of users to give credence and value to statements. For making statements, this service will be like MyBlog Log on crack - voting is highly addictive. The social networking aspects allow you to create a profile, develop a group, and rate & comment on statements made by each other. It uses an IFrame to source the code, and you will be able to see the voting increase or decrease as people vote on it if it’s on your site.

Another cool aspect of the service is Jyte Spy (similar to Digg Spy). Once you submit your claim you can watch live as people agree or disagree with it. I just watched as about 4 people agreed with my statement above. The greatest aspect is that it is compatible with Wordpress and you can easily embed it in your blog which makes things easier for many bloggers, & therefore, you know this service is scaleable to other CMS platforms.
I think Jyte will achieve a mass audience very quickly. It will appeal to those who will use it effectively, of course Bloggers & News Corporations. But I think that comedians, video bloggers & podcasters will find some great use this. Now you can create a community behind your video blog & give credence to the statements you make. For example, we “listen to” and “watch” video blogs & podcasts, and statements & claims are made during their shows. Now, w/ Jyte, you can not only get credibility to claims you make, but get a value on the thoughts of others, whether or not they agree or disagree brining another dynamic to your show, podcast or even blog.

Marshall Kilpatrick, (assisting with TechCrunch) gave a nice review of some drawbacks within the service. One major one being, that if you make a claim, that you automatically agree with it.
