Spotflix, launched in August 2006, is a one-stop shop for distributing a film project, financing a film project and even renting the completed work. Producers can market and sell their films to targeted audiences all over the world , generating revenue through the Spotflix distribution system. Not only that, films that get uploaded through the Spotflix server are also Microsoft-DRM encoded for security and protection. The company is also on MySpace and has aprox. 4775 friends as of today, January 22nd.

The producers of films get 30% of each download that is made. Additionally, Spotflix helps through each stage of the production process & allowing for producers to finance their project to completion. Producers can market their films by posting segments in 1.) Pre-production, 2.) Post-Production, 3.) In Production & 4.) Completed.

As a start-up going into the year 2007, the timing is perfect for Spotflix, as the Sundance Film Festival provides a great platform for strategic leverage, but also taking an existing networking community of creative minds and placing them on an online social networking platform. The company also provides a filmmakers directory, so that filmmakers can connect with each other. To be included, a user has to create a profile on the site and can be accessed by other members of the site.
